518's quest for resonance

bringing acoustic performances to unique spaces, to experiment and experience music in paradoxically old and new, intimate ways

the story

NᵒAMP NY is a collective assembled to put intimate acoustic musical performances in the spotlight in the capital region. Through popups in homes, DIY venues, and curated sonically-rich spaces, where the character of the instruments and location contribute to the experience

it's also an effort to blur the line between the stage and the audience, break out of the usual formatting/layout, and shake up expectations: encouraging attendees to engage with the music in ways that may be new to them

If you've ever been to a show as a quiet audience member but wanted to hum along, take step closer or sit on the floor next to the instrument and feel its vibrations – NᵒAMP NY has a show for you.

Hi! I'm JJ. I built this website and have been developing the concept for a while now. Ultimately, the goal is to gather a group of folks who are interested in booking and playing in these types of settings and collaborate on the process - but it's just me for now.

How do I book a show?
Can I recommend a performer?

Yes please. We aim to cultivate a wide range of acoustic performances - hook us up!

Can I suggest a venue?

Know a good place that inspires you? Send us a tip via our contact form. It could be a church, an abandoned silo, a stairwell, or even a special spot in the woods. Hopefully you can tip us off to an opportunity to hear more beauty in interesting locations.

How can I be involved?

Come to one of our shows! We'd love to talk with you in person and see how we can collaborate. Much of the effort is in the booking and social media management, and it's not much a money maker at this point - but if you have time to spare or ideas to share, please let us know.
